Reduce your Carbon Footprint and your Fuel Bills.

The media is awash with stories about energy prices soaring sky high, if its not that its the Credit Crunch or reducing your Carbon Footprint to help stave off Global Warming.

But did you realise there is a simple way you can do something to reduce the impact of all three problems?

Your boiler may be working alright, but how efficient is it? For that matter, how efficient are your radiators? The truth is, whilst turning down your thermostat and insulating your loft can be helpful, its not much use if your central heating system is having to work harder than it should. Even if you get an annual service, that just covers your boiler, your radiators have probably remained untouched since the day they were installed.

How can you check?

Tell-tale signs of a problem are quite easy to spot, but are often missed. Do your radiators need bleeding frequently? Is the radiator water dirty? Do some radiators stay cold, take a long time to heat up or have cold patches? Is the boiler noisy? Is your system very old?

These are all signs that there is a build up of corrosion scale and sludge in your system, the problem is it won't just be in one place, it will be in the boiler, the radiators and even the pipework. This sludge and scale will impede the flow of water through your central heating system, making the whole system work hard and using up precious energy in the process.

Worse still, if left the scale and sludge in your system could reach working parts of your boiler, causing it to break down and costing even more money in repair bills. The build up can also hide pinpoint holes in your radiators, temporarily blocking them. These holes will allow air into the system, creating further corrosion and making the problem worse.

So, Whats the solution?

Its actually quite easy to rectify this problem, relatively cheap and can be done in a day with no real upheaval or inconvenience. The answer is to have the system power flushed.

As you might expect, this process basically flushes the system of scale and sludge, using chemical treatments to help move more stubborn build up.

Once completed, if there are any breaches in the system which might have caused the problem by letting air in, they will be revealed and can be repaired. In many cases this is un-necessary as the build up is simply a result of age and the process of flushing will be sufficient to restore the efficiency of your central heating. But on rare occasions a small leak might appear on a radiator or valve after the power flush has removed the debris blocking it.

The whole process can be finished in less than a day, and with L G Plumbing prices, it is sure to be the most cost effective way of restoring your system efficiency and cutting those heating bills
